Pohybuje sa samostatne s pomocou chodítka (rolátora), pri vstávaní z postele alebo zo stoličky potrebuje občasnú pomoc. Je neistý pri chôdzi, preto je dobré ho pri pohybe sprevádzať. Na toaletu chodí s čiastočnou pomocou, používa inkontinenčné pomôcky a je potrebná pomoc pri ich výmene. Stolicu udrží, no má sklony k zápche.
Úlohou opatrovateľky je pomoc pri obliekaní a vyzliekaní, každodennej osobnej hygiene, sprchovaní (každý druhý deň), pri návšteve toalety, podávaní a kontrole užívania pripravených liekov, príprave stravy, vedení domácnosti, praní, upratovaní, nákupoch a vybavovaní bežných záležitostí. Dôležitou súčasťou práce je aj spoločnosť seniorovi, udržiavanie denného režimu, spoločné prechádzky a rôzne voľnočasové aktivity, napríklad spoločenské hry.
Nočné vstávanie je možné, ale iba príležitostne.Senior býva niekedy v noci nepokojný, vstane si na toaletu alebo sa ide najesť. Vo väčšine prípadov pomoc opatrovateľky nie je potrebná, zasiahnuť treba len vo výnimočných situáciách, napríklad pri páde.

Pán trpí depresívnymi stavmi. Hygienu zabezpečuje opatrovateľka, sprchuje ho raz týždenne podľa jeho želania. Manželka je veľmi nápomocná a stará sa o varenie a nákupy, takže opatrovateľka má veľa voľného času.

The main responsibilities of the caregiver will include companionship, household management, cooking, shopping together, taking walks, and visiting the cemetery.
